We were excited to send our first short-term team to La Paz, Mexico. The team served with our Ministry Partners, Brian and Susan Key, to meet tangible needs in the community of La Paz. Our group offered the youth of the community activities so “Iglesia Cristiana El Faro” (The Lighthouse) Church could develop new friendships and share the love of Jesus.
a few debrief comments from team members…
…I knew we were prepared but I wasn’t sure what to expect. A month before we left the Iglesia Cristiana El Faro Church had their worship center burned to the ground. While we were there a windstorm destroyed part of what they had rebuilt. I experienced first hand how difficult it can be for a small group of Christians with limited resources to keep the doors of the church open let alone reach their city.
…Brian was excited to see the church so lively after experiencing so many setbacks. Previously just under 100 people attended the Sunday service but after the outreach attendance swelled to 150 people!
…I need to be more generous with the treasure that the Lord has given me.
…Even if the United States is materially wealthy, spiritually it is impoverished. If I can “sacrifice” a week of my time and money to go on a mission trip to Mexico, how much more should I be serving the Lord by loving those around me every day?
