We were excited to send our second short-term team to La Paz, Mexico. The team served with our Ministry Partners, Brian and Susan Key, to meet tangible needs in the community of La Paz. Our group offered the youth of the community activities so “Iglesia Cristiana El Faro” (The Lighthouse) Church could develop new friendships and share the love of Jesus.
a few debrief comments from team members…
…Not only did Brian’s passing leave a hole, but some other Mexican church leaders didn’t come through with some commitments. As such, our team was able to come alongside the ministry partners offering manual labor, logistical support, student support, music ministry and encouragement.
…Words cannot begin to express how God orchestrated forming our team, nudging us towards going even after Brian’s passing and the extent to which our team was blessed by God being in charge of every detail.
…Things run very slow sometimes in Mexico, a schedule serves as a framework for what comes next.
…I realized that tasks are not nearly as important as people even if it means meals are an hour later or that activities don’t go the way they were supposed to.
…We arrived embracing the mental attitude of flexibility no matter what and after a couple of hiccups found ourselves in La Paz poised to serve.
