In 2009 Crossroads Bible Church sent our first team to Ljubljana, Slovenia to help Ministry Partner, David and Katka Bordner put on their Josiah Venture English Camp. The team was led by Donny Vanker. The 2010 team was led by Ryan Palmer. After these two teams there was a pause before we sent the next team in 2013.

In these English Camps, our Crossroads students and staff will assist the Slovene Christians and missionaries in teaching English classes, leading small group discussions and group games, participating in evening programs, and sharing their testimonies.

It also provides a rare chance for the SLOVENE YOUTH WHO ARE CHRISTIANS to experience fellowship with more than just a handful of other believers. Slovenia ’09 will be life changing for their students and ours.

Excerpts from 2009 Elder Report

…I was just talking to one of our students and we both agreed that this trip has been one blessing from God to another. Starting with the trip being un-canceled and God providing more than what we needed in only two weeks, to our flight home being delayed enough so that we had time to get through the very long check-in line and make our flight.

…. I didn’t anticipate the exhaustion, discouragement, homesickness, and limited team time. That being said, it sounds like an awful experience, but it pushed me and forced me to rely on God alone.

…. I adapted quickly to the challenges set in front of me during the week and the relationships I have made with the students are still strong and I am already doing anything I can to earn enough money to return.

…. I loved our team and all that God has taught me through all of them. I loved the experience I had while in Slovenia, and I love how God has used everything to teach me something!
